Warren Woods Tower has always done its best in the past to teach its health students the importance of understanding the human body. Previously, the limits of the school year have forced this important topic to simply be skimmed over. However, this has finally been changed, with the creation of an Anatomy & Physiology class to aid in the teaching of these important concepts.
“If you don’t know how the human body works, you can’t fix it,” is the creed of Anatomy teacher Ms. VanHuysse, who has taken the role of teaching this new class.
Anatomy & Physiology is a full year class that teaches students about the functions and systems of the human body, in an effort to give the in depth information the subject requires. “We also make connections to diseases and healthcare career options,” VanHuysse said, bringing wider appeal to the other health classes of the school.
Many students believe this class to be a valuable asset to them and their futures. “This class will give me a head start against others in the medical field,” WWT Junior Daniel Geromette said.
As the class impounds the idea that knowledge of the human body is necessary in order to serve patients well, other students agree with this statement. Senior Carly McGill believes the class will give her “insight before I enter a career in the health care setting.”
Senior Steve Thornton agrees. “Taking this class gives me additional knowledge for other [health] classes.”
WWT students are confident that the information they will gain from this class will help them in the future, and this foresight keeps them determined to learn more about the functions and systems of the human body.
