As many students have noticed, Titan Time has been MIA, but the good news is, it’s coming back. It was in 2014 that Titan Time was created as an incentive program for kids that were doing well in their classes and a study/help period for the kids that were struggling.
For students that had a 70% or higher in their class, they were able to leave class 20 minutes early and hangout with friends in the commons, lunchroom, or library. If you had below a 70%, those 20 minutes were spent in class getting help from the teacher or working on any missing assignments.
As of this year, Titan Time has been canceled. There is hope, however, that something new is replacing it. Titan Time was taken away for several reasons, the biggest being it was not effective.
For the senior class this was a heart breaker as they came into the school freshmen year with Titan Time being the new thing and a lot of students took advantage of this great opportunity.
Saleem Awaad ‘17 said “I was salty about Titan Time getting canceled, it was a good way to study and chill with the homies,” but going into their senior year, this is no longer a privilege.
Titan Time is coming back Mr. Mackenzie said, “within a couple of weeks.”
Titan Time has a couple new changes though. “The biggest thing in consideration would be that we don’t know about the kids being in the halls”. Mr. Mackenzie also said, “We don’t know how often it will be either.” The higher authorities in our school did not believe Titan Time was a true improvement for the school and individual students as they did not fully take advantage of the privilege Titan Time provided.
