Spring Break for WWT is HERE and it’s time to plan out how you’re going to spend the vacation. Starting officially on March 30th, students and staff are off until the 8th of April. While many of you are travelling somewhere warm for your spring break trip, many others are staying home for the duration of the break. Here are a few ideas of things to do if you’re staying in Michigan:
Indoor water park- A great alternative for traveling to a warmer, beachy area is an indoor waterpark/hotel! Here you can still swim all you want, and get the feel of being on a trip somewhere away from Michigan. There are many different hotel options such as the Soaring Eagle in Mount Pleasant starting at $79.95 a night, or Zehnder’s hotel and waterpark in Frankenmuth starting at about $150 a night with park passes.
Baseball- Opening day for the Tiger’s is on April 5th with a series vs. the Yankees from the 5th to the 7th, and another series vs. the Blue Jays on the 9th, 10th, and 11th. Make sure you check out the Tiger’s schedule (click this link http://detroit.tigers.mlb.com/schedule/index.jsp?c_id=det#y=2013&m=3&calendar=DEFAULT ) and buy some tickets on that website, or even http://www.stubhub.com/ or http://www.ticketmaster.com/. If you don’t plan to attend, having a party at home to watch the game is always fun, too!
City of Detroit- Though many people rule out going to Detroit, there are actually plenty of things to do. There are many museums in and around Detroit, including the Henry Ford Museum (which is only $17 to get in!), the Detroit Children’s Museum, the Cranbrook Art Museum (only $12.50 for tickets), and the Detroit Institute of Arts.
The Fox Theatre and The Fillmore are theatres that you should look into if you want to spend your Spring Break at a concert. To kick off SB, Excision is performing at The Fillmore on March 30th. Also, if you’re into jazz, on March 30th the Fox is hosting an Easter Jazz Spectacular.
Don’t rule out the “relaxed” spring break option! Though many of the students will be headed to PCB and other warmer areas, if you’re stuck here, try making the best of it. Catch up on some sleep, on some reading, or even on some quality time with your family and friends. Enjoy your time off of school while you can!
