The notorious ID lady, Mrs. Pat Reed has announced her retirement. Since September of 1994 she has been the principal’s assistant and loved every minute of it. Throughout her years at Woods-Tower, she has enjoyed interactions with students and staff. The decision to leave wasn’t an easy one, but Mrs. Reed decided to final release her creative outlet by retiring from her job at Tower and become absorbed in the arts.

Mrs. Reed attended school within the Woods-Tower district all the way back from 1960. She was a student, then turned parent, and now a staff member herself. Before she became the principal’s assistant here at Tower, “I was the principal’s assistant at Westwood,” she said.

The ever so funny and loving Mrs. Reed truly has a good time working as the principal’s assistant. “This is my social life, I enjoy being here.”  The interaction with students puts a smile on her face. Knowing that she is helping kids and seeing them grow makes her day.

It finally came down for Mrs. Reed to make the choice to retire. “I’m still serving my detention from high school, that’s why I haven’t left,” Mrs. Reed joked. She decided to take different course in her life, to reach out and get involved in the arts. Mrs. Reed loves art and has been interested for years.

Mrs. Reed is engaging herself with the Scarab Club right here in Detroit, Michigan, and the Detroit Artist Market. She is exchanging her office desk for a spot on the Warren Woods Education Foundation also. “I’m volunteering there. They issue mini grants to teachers and schools for the students,” Mrs. Reed said.

So now that Pat Reed is leaving, Tower needs a replacement, someone who will take over the title of the ID lady. Mrs. Reed is handing her job down to Mrs. Marx, who currently works in the counseling office.

Students here at Tower will always remember Mrs. Reed as a funny, outgoing, and certainly friendly women. She will also walk away with her own fond memories of her years at this school. She definitely will be missed, but now she finally can be free from her detention here at Tower.
