As we enter the bulk of our many cold Michigan months, it is only natural to long for warmer weather. Many of us may be traveling down south during the holiday break or simply daydreaming about heading somewhere warmer. Senior Sarah Greger will be living out many students’ fantasies this February when she embarks on her third cruise!
“I’ve been on two other cruises in the past and it’s hard to choose a favorite thing about them! I like being able to go to the beaches on islands and being able to meet new people,” Sarah recalled about her favorite thing about cruises.
Cruises offer the opportunity to be able to travel sections of the world by water. They can range from four days to two or more weeks. Within the allotted amount of time as a traveler, you are able to visit multiple different countries and immerse yourself in many different cultures. “The first cruise I went on was when I was twelve. I went to St. Thomas, San Juan, and Grand Turk and during my second cruise when I was fifteen I went to Jamaica and the Bahamas,” Sarah adds.
If you wish to be a seasoned cruise veteran like Sarah, then follow her advice. Many people are skeptic about going on a cruise because of seasickness, but do not fret! “You can get patches or wristbands that help with your equilibrium,” Sarah says.
She also has the lowdown on where to find the best food on a cruise ship. “If you eat in the dining room you can have as many courses as you want for free. Even fancy things like filet mignon or snails. There should also be cafés that have 24/7 food like pizza, burgers and ice cream,” Sarah says.
As previously mentioned, Sarah will be heading out on her third cruise in February! “It’s a seven day long cruise and we will be going to Belize, Cozumel and some other private island!” Sarah concluded. If you feel that going on a cruise would float your boat, don’t be shy and try it out! It is a great opportunity to escape from the many cold winter months and visit new cultures.
