February is a month that is dedicated to the heart and the people fighting heart diseases. To celebrate this special month, Tower is hosting another Red -Out game. Aside for just Tower’s Red-Out game, there will be a Red-Out game at Lincoln too against Tower’s boys’ basketball team.
These basketball games will take place on February 8th at 7 pm in Tower’s main gym and another game will be held on February 14th at Lincoln at 7 pm. Each game is expected to have a packed house.
This game is just like the Wounded Warriors football game back in the fall. You can purchase a shirt from the athletic office or at lunch for $10. Along with the shirt, you can purchase a bracelet. The bracelets are $2.00 with a purchase of a shirt and $5.00 without the shirt.
You can buy the shirts for yourself, friends, older/younger brother or sisters, parents or other family members. The shirts are available to everyone. The shirts will also be sold at the middle school. You can purchase the shirts up until February 8th or until there are no more available.
The shirts will get you into Tower’s game and into Lincoln’s game for free, if you wear them to the game. The purpose of the shirt is to create an identity for the cause. Instead of just charging a higher price for a specific basketball game, the shirts will create a sea of red during the game. Just like the Blue Crew, the shirts will add more spirit to the game.
All of the proceeds that come from the shirts and the bracelets will be donated to the American Heart Association. Last year, the Athletic Office raised $5,000 selling the shirts. Jane Sander, the athletic director, is hoping to do just as well or even better this year.
The whole purpose is raise awareness of the American Heart Association. Buy a shirt in honor of someone that you know with a heart disease or just to support the cause!
