Only four days till the day of all days is here- Prom! I have my dress, know how I’m going to do my hair and make-up, got my date, now time just has to speed up so I can experience the best night of my high school life.
Okay, so I really don’t see Prom as the most important day of high school that I will remember forever and ever, it’s just a last dance, mostly for seniors, to have a final celebration of fun. Don’t get me wrong when I say I am very excited for Prom and that I’m looking forward to the day, but I guess I don’t take it as serious as it’s put out there to be.
Looking back on my years here at Tower, the theme of prom has been pretty exciting. I remember Masquerade, the red carpet, and under the sea. This year however, “In the Spotlight”, doesn’t seem too thrilling to me. “I’m not a huge fan of the theme, it’s not very original,” says Morgan Zalewski ’12. I agree with her and think that the theme should have been a little more interesting.
Something along the lines as a futuristic idea, with robots and or aliens and UFO’s could be cool. A “Casino Night” would be entertaining and interesting, having the Vegas strip to stroll down and take pictures on. Unique and creative themes like these would be better than basic ones.
Besides being “In the Spotlight”, arrangements such as location wasn’t everyone’s favorite option either. This year’s prom is being held at Andiamo’s. Personally I like where prom is, the food is expected to be good and its close but not too far of a distance.
“I feel like it would be cooler if it was on the water like last year,” Jacob Carroll ’12 says. Most students going to prom also agree, and with reason. Last year’s prom was held at Macray Harbor was very pretty and nice.
I feel wherever and whatever prom is, it will be super fun. My expectations are high and I’m not stressing over little things such as location because I know I can’t change it. I have a pretty dress, a nice date, and am going to experience a once in a lifetime moment. As long as people stay positive they will enjoy their night.
