Many of us walk through this school every day without even paying much mind to what’s on the walls of this school. Next time you’re walking to class, take a minute. Stop and look around. What do you see? A bare brick wall? A poster? A painting? One goal for the Art Department this year is to decrease the amount of brick wall we’re exposed to and increase the amount of art we see.
The Art Department is off to a good start this year with many different projects underway. This year’s class has a variety of projects that will be seen by the school shortly. According to Mrs. Flanigan students in her first hour class are working on a banner for the Titans cancer football game on the 16th. Her select group of students is working hard on finishing their project not only because of the approaching deadline, but also for more personal reasons.
“I wanted to work on this banner because my aunt died of cancer,” said Ali Wilczak ’12, “It was really important to me because I know what it’s like to have someone close to you die. It was also important to me to spread awareness about cancer.”
The halls will soon be seeing posters created by the art classes featuring the schools mission statement. For those who don’t know, this year’s mission statement is “We Care, We Respect, We Are Titan Nation!” These posters are meant to help decorate the halls as well as inspire students to be mindful of making the school a better place.
In the coming weeks as the creative departments of the school get rolling TitanNation.net will be featuring artwork from all the art classes and the creative literary works from the English and Creative Writing departments.
