The Green Club meets after school to help find ways they can better our school, and outside environment. The club is led by adviser Mrs. Kujawski.
Every Thursday, the members meet in Room 125 to coordinate their activities. “We do work on meeting days, we either make eco-friendly crafts, talk about ways to save the earth, and have fun,” Melissa Nichols ’14, Green Club President, said.
“The Green Club will participate in the craft show once again this year,” Nichols added.
The Green Club also plans to bring back penny wars again this year. This activity helps save endangered animals by adopting them through WWF. “We are planning another penny war this year to adopt another animal. We have adopted the red panda, polar bear, blue-footed booby, and a Sumatran tiger in the past 4 years,” Nichols stated.
Nichols explained the idea of a penny war, “A penny war is how we raise money. We have 3 different animals and people give spare change to the animal they want to adopt. The animal with the most money wins and we adopt them, theoretically that is not physically.”
Nichols hopes to continue the hard work of previous club members this school year. “We (Green Club) have impacted Tower. We have moved Tower to an Emerald status Michigan Green School. Emerald status in the highest rank,” Nichols said.
