The WWT Green Club plans to open their Little Free Library soon. This is a project that has been going on for about 4 years now. It is a library where you leave a book and take a book someone else left. The location will be outside near the Tower’s green house.
All the excitement has been built up and the whole team is ready for it to come to life! They have a goal, “To promote literacy and the love of reading by building free book exchanges worldwide and to build a sense of community as we share skills, creativity and wisdom across generations. There are over 32,000 Little Free Library book exchanges around the world, bringing curbside literacy home and sharing over 1 million books annually,” their website (www.littlefreelibrary.org) says.
There is no specific date yet for the grand opening, but be ready! Some students have been a part of this for the whole 4 years, “This is a cool opportunity for those interested in reading at their own leisure. Simply take one book in the library and replace with a book of your choice for someone else to read,” Justin McMahon ’16, Green Club president shares. Justin has seen this come to life over the years!
Start collecting some books you have already read in preparation for this Little Free Library. Most of the members of Green Club are very proud of what they helped contribute to, “It’s a huge accomplishment to finally have created this and we look forward to updating it and overall making it a cooler and more fun experience to use throughout the year,” Kyle Follo ’16 exclaims.
Since there was a lot of work put in the members are also excited, “I’m excited because we are finally finishing a project that the Green Club has been working on since 2012. It’s cool to see the progression to the final product,” Justin says joyfully. It is a very exciting time for this team!
The Green Club makes many contributions to the school and this is an amazing one. The Little Free Library is going to be an awesome thing for lovers of reading at Tower. It will take away from the hassle of trying to find a good book to read, when you can trust the opinion of the fellow students putting forth books.
