Every year, Interact sells carnations and donates the profits to various organizations. This year, Interact sold about one hundred and seventy carnations, giving them a profit of around one hundred dollars. After much deliberation, Interact decided to donate the profits to the Jada project.
This project was started by HOSA to grant the wish of a terminally ill girl. HOSA needs to collect $1000 to grant her wish of going on a cruise. Interacts donation puts HOSA one step closer to granting Jada’s wish.
In previous years, Interact donated the money to needy families within the community. Similar to The Giving Tree project earlier this year, the school would adopt families during the holiday season and try to raise money to give them the things they want or need.
Both are very worthy causes, but the Jada project is more immediate, which is what weighed most heavily on Interact’s decision on what to do with the money.
